A state-of-the-art toxicology textbook—ideal for students and professionals
Toxicology is a multifaceted field that encompasses the physical and chemical study of all known poisonous substances. It involves the rigorous analysis of toxicants and their effects on living tissues, forensic toxicology, quality assurance principles, environmental toxicology, and related sciences. As the field of toxicology continues to rapidly evolve, a thorough understanding of its underlying principles remains vital.
Now in its third edition, A Textbook of Modern Toxicology is a unique resource that provides both students and practitioners with a wide-ranging, accessible overview of the discipline. Suitable for courses in environmental, pharmacological, medical, and veterinary toxicology, this essential text features chapters written by experts who address a range of key topics.
A Textbook of Modern Toxicology is distinguished by up-to-date insights into acute toxicity and chemical carcinogenesis, organ toxicity, in vitro and in vivo toxicity testing, ecological risk assessment, and many other areas of toxicology that help foster a solid comprehension of the field.
The new edition reflects the addition of new contributors who offer the
latest thinking in their respective areas of specialization and in their examination of emerging topics such as molecular biological aspects of technology. A Textbook of Modern Toxicology, Third Edition emphasizes the biochemical aspects of toxicology, underscoring the belief that progress in toxicology hinges on an understanding of the fundamentals of toxic action at the cellular and molecular levels. To reinforce the text material, the book features chapter-ending suggestions for further reading, a helpful glossary, and a special summary section.

Customer Reviews
Modern Toxicology
I teach toxicology to physicians. It is tough to bridge both the theoretical side and the clinical side and not be too boring. This book is about as good as there is out there, but it is a little irregular in depth. But it is readable.
Hazardous Material Toxicology by Sullivan and Krieger is great for physicians but is thin on the theoretical aspects.
Cassaret and Doull is better suited for full time toxicologists and people with insomnia.
Perfect Introductory Textbook
This book is an excellent textbook for introducing fundamental principles and applications of toxicology without diluting the material and watering-down the complexity of toxicological principia practica. While a good source for basic theory, the book can also be employed as a recitational tool for more specialized toxicological inquiry.
Textbook of Modern Toxicology
My son loves this book, was actually already reading it prior to school even starting. He is a highschool senior doing independent study and he and his teacher both like the book.
